Location

This is a remote position, with preference for Atlanta, GA or remote working in or close to US Eastern Standard Time. Women Who Code, Inc. (WWCode) is headquartered in Atlanta, GA.

Key Responsibilities

As the Social Media Manager, you’ll create, coordinate, and schedule content and report on and manage engagement for WWCode’s social media channels, including twitter, facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram.

  • Generate engaging multi-platform content campaigns for a global audience of technologists.

  • Leverage source content from the WWCode ecosystem to produce content that includes technical protips, coding resources, career success, tech humor, life hacks, and advocacy pieces.       

  • Participate in strategy, idea generation, and constant improvement on all content platforms to maximize engagement. 

  • Create a weekly content calendar for social media, planning three+ months out. 

  • Review, schedule, and manage engagement for social media.

  • Ensure that all written and visual content adheres to WWCode branding, voice, and brand guidelines.

  • Coordinate review by subject matter experts as needed for content related to themes such as program, partnerships, and advocacy. 

  • Elevate important conversations and recommend an engagement strategy. 

  • Gather and analyze data to guide decisions on future content creation and to get a deeper understanding of the WWCode audience. 

  • Stay up to date with the latest digital trends surrounding best practices for community and social engagement.

  • Partner with subject matter experts to create compelling conversations that celebrate diversity and inclusion, raise awareness about bias that exists in our industry, and advocates for a more equitable, inclusive, and diverse industry and world.  

  • Develop campaigns that amplify the voices of diverse technologists globally, elevating their technical expertise and lived experiences.  

  • Work with the program team to enhance community engagement for key events and conferences. Content includes: live tweeting WWCode conferences, red carpet Instagram live sessions, and session announcements. 

  • Monitor industry and community conversations on social media, news and content outlets, WWCode networks, and our PR team for content idea generation. 

  • Create content toolkits and templates for volunteers to help amplify campaigns across secondary social media channels.  

  • Set processes for peer-editing all content.

  • Look for new ways to elevate the conversation, activate influencers, and engage our audience.   

  • Build good working partnerships with teammates in remote locations.

 

Most of all, be self-motivated, flexible, and have a strong passion for being the voice behind an advocate brand inspiring women to excel in technology careers. 


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Business, or a related field; will consider experience in lieu of education 

  • 2+ years experience in professional communications roles; social media and/or community management preferred 

  • Knowledge of social platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram

  • Plans in advance to smooth out workflows so that the team can meet deadlines and build work-life balance 

  • Strong attention to detail for spelling/grammar, formatting, and design errors 

  • Thinks strategically, prioritizing work in alignment with team goals

  • Growth mindset with a willingness to test, fail quickly, and learn from it 

  • Excellent communication and follow-up

  • Comfortable developing processes and adhereing to deadlines and content calendars


Nice To Have

  • Graphic design, gif creation, light video editing

  • Experience with Canva, Adobe, or similar

  • Experience with Hootsuite, Sprout Social, or similar 

  • Strong understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion

  • Knowledge or experience with the Women Who Code community

  • Experience with tech culture

  • Willingness to travel as needed (<10%; team travel currently on hold)
