Issue 158
We are building features for the Women Who Code community and we want to highlight that work with our stakeholders, you! THANK YOU to our contributors for dedicating their valuable time to help us build tech a place where women can excel.
You can follow all of our work on github. Below are a few snippets of our awesome features.
Released
It has been a super busy week for the Women Who Code Core Team! We added a lot of new functionality for Website Admins, allowing them to better interact with the backend of our app. We also made some improvements to the Network pages, fixed a few minor issues that were cropping up, and updated the software that is being used to power the website.
Added
Refunding Charges as an Admin
This update allows website Admins to authorize refunds for purchases from the backend of the website.
New Admin Dashboard: Track Community Stats
With this update, we've implemented functionality that allows our new WWCode Fellows to track activity and member count for the particular Track Community that they are in charge of.
Add Timezone to Event Cards Where Time is Displayed
Women Who Code is a global community and our Networks are located in 60 cities and 20 countries around the world. That means that we have events in almost every timezone that exists. This update adds timezone information to Events on Network Pages, making it easier to figure out exactly when an event is taking place.
Changed
Only Show Inactive Legacy Leaders
When Network Leaders leave their position, admins now have the ability to delete their record, which causes them to show up on the "Legacy Leaders" section of their Network page, rather than the "Active Leaders" section. With this update, we accommodate cases where the Leader may have been entered into the records twice. If only one of them is deleted, they will remain in the "Active Leaders" portion of the Network Page. If both are deleted, they will be moved to the "Legacy Leaders" section.
Fixed
Fix Spacing on Code Review Confirmation Dialog
We updated the popup notification that appears on the backend console where customer's CODE Review posts are stored to have proper spacing.
Removing Scroll to #signinsignup Links on Home Page & Footer
Now, when you visit the site as a signed out user, there is a "Become a Member" link that directs you to the Zuul sign up page. If you are logged in, there will instead be a link to "Find Your Network" which redirect you to the Network page. At the same time, the "Become a Member" link in the footer, which is visible even to logged in users, will redirect you to the homepage.
Security
Upgrade Ruby/Rubygems Version
This is an important security update that we implemented to the core software that powers WomenWhoCode.com.
Applauds!
