World’s Largest Community Dedicated to Inspiring the Success of Diverse Women in Tech Honors 23 Technologists for Extraordinary Contributions to Society and the Industry
ATLANTA – MAY 2ND, 2023 – Women Who Code (WWCode), the world’s largest and most active community of women in technology, is proud to announce the Women Who Code Applaud Her Awards. The ceremony, being digitally released starting May 2nd and continuing over the course of two weeks, will elevate the significant accomplishments of 23 diverse women working in technology and recognize them for their contributions to the industry and social good.
The Applaud Her Awards is a program that supports WWCode's core mission – to inspire diverse women to excel in technology careers – by increasing the visibility of the achievements of women technologists who have a profound impact on the world. The ceremony will be pre-recorded and will highlight the winners' careers, celebrate their achievements, and elevate them to inspire other diverse women in tech looking to succeed.
“These awards have a power impact in the industry by working to change perceptions that people have about what it means to be a technologist and a leader,” said WWCode CEO Alaina Percival. “These awards increase the visibility of the diverse women who are already leaders and trailblazers in tech, demonstrating the power of diversity to companies and the power of possibility to this and the next generation looking to succeed.”
The Applaud Her Awards is a continuation of Women Who Code’s 100 Technologists to Watch, a list of the most promising, outstanding, and impactful women working in their respective fields of technology. Since they were chosen on March 28th, these diverse technologists have had their professional profiles elevated and celebrated across social media, videos, and podcasts for the importance of their work.
The Applaud Her Awards have been a part of Women Who Code since 2014, when six diverse technologists were recognized for their excellence in technology. The program has expanded over the years, reaching a broader audience with a digital format, encompassing a wider range of topics and achievements, and recognizing even more diverse women who are building and innovating technology today.
