An exceptional leader, enthusiastic manager, inspiring mentor, technical expert, honest, hardworking yet modest individual – these are just some of the adjectives used by Nidhi's teammates when they talk about their experience of working with her.
On being asked about highlights of her career she shared, “I was always passionate about technology and earned a Doctorate in Computer Technology from IIT, Delhi. I started my career with a short stint in research and academics. I then went on to work in the industry as a Technical Leader and later, Engineering Leader with Hughes/ Aricent/ Altran. With over 22 years of experience in the Telecom Industry, I have worked in diverse roles and domains – from wireless (GSM to 5G) to Wireline.”
She added, “I was fortunate enough to get the opportunity to work on state-of-the-art products. I could work with clients from diverse geographical locations around the globe.”
Nidhi had led numerous initiatives in Industry for carrier Grade Node development (Switches, Routers, Gateways and many more). She has numerous publications to her credit. She participated in and led large programs, products, teams across the Globe, managed Customers and deliveries. Now she works as an entrepreneur, providing Technology-driven solutions in Agriculture & Supply chain domain across India, in the role of COO & Engineering head at NIA Agrocommodity Marketplace.
On the challenges she faced in her career, she said, “It was often challenging to balance my studies – research – work – family commitments, as a working woman. There were situations when I had to prioritize family overwork, and vice-versa. Work was demanding with time zone differences with various clients, delivery deadlines and escalations or travels. I overcame these with my hard work, 'I can do it' attitude and strong support systems at home and work.”
When asked about her advice to women in tech, she said, “We can achieve our professional dreams by following it with passion and grit. There is no alternative to hard work. When situations force you to slow down, maintain the zeal and continue to move forward and grow. We are the role models for the younger generation. Keep moving forward because there is no limit that can stop you.”
