A Letter from WWCode CEO and Co-founder, Alaina Percival
Written by Alaina Percival
Thank you so much to everyone who generously decided to support Women Who Code this Giving Tuesday and throughout the giving season. Your contributions enable our work and allow us to continue empowering diverse technologists, working with companies to do better, and building towards a tech industry where women and historically excluded people thrive at every level. We are so grateful for your support.
In the past eleven years, Women Who Code has grown from a small group of technologists in San Francisco, meeting to support one another in learning and developing their careers, to the world’s largest and most active community of diverse technology professionals, with a membership of 360,000 in 147 countries.
In 2023, we saw momentous events such as CONNECT Empower and CONNECT Asia, the Hackathon for Social Good, BlockDataPy, the 100 Days of Code challenge, Advocacy Town Halls, and over 1,700 educational events held in both digital, in-person and hybrid formats to make them accessible to everyone in the world. That’s in addition to giving away half a million dollars in scholarships and awarding 100 diverse technologists with Applaud Her Awards to honor their contributions to tech.
You have been a part of all of that through your support. Women Who Code’s mission is to empower diverse women to excel in technology careers. That work can’t be done without people like you who believe in the vision and contribute to achieving it. In the coming year, I invite you to join Women Who Code in this continuing mission and help us to achieve a tech industry that is diverse and equitable for all.
