Women Who Code ("Us", "We", or "Our") operates the Women Who Code ("WWCode") Website (the "Service"). This page informs you of our Policies regarding the collection, use and disclosure of Personal Information/Personally Identifiable Information (PII) when you use our Service. We will not use or share your information with anyone except as described in this Privacy Policy. We use your Personal Information for providing and improving the Service. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Policy. Unless otherwise defined in this Privacy Policy, Terms used in this Privacy Policy have the same meanings as in our Terms of Service ("TOS", "Terms"), accessible at the WWCode website here. These Terms apply to all Visitors, Members, Users, and others who wish to access or use the Service. By accessing or using the Service and clicking "I Accept" you agree to be bound by these Terms. Failure to properly accept these Terms will not constitute as agreement to these Terms, therefore resulting in the inability to access our Service. If you disagree with any part of the terms then you do not have permission to access the Service.

Definitions and Terms: WWCode is a robust and growing Community and sometimes it is hard to determine how terminology is utilized - hopefully what is below will help.

  • Affiliates refers to Employees, Part-time Employees, Contractors, Consultants, Volunteers and any third party vendors operating on behalf of WWCode.
  • Members are people who are eligible for and/or receive Women Who Code benefits. They can also be Affiliates.
  • Customers and Partners are people or Companies that do business with Women Who Code.
  • Proprietary Information is identifiable Member data (including Member emails), Employee information, and financial data outside of non-profit disclosure requirements without prior approval of the sources.

1.0 Scope

With our Global Community and their Privacy in mind we have updated and incorporated guidelines and Policies to document how we provide process any information given to us when you interact with WWCode.

WWCode's Service consists of use of our Website, Job Board (included automated processes for Company/Organizational Sponsorships, Partnerships, and Media collaborations), CODE Review Newsletter, and Social Media, and Internal Member/Community Profiles (our newly released microsite for each geographic Network), which all are carefully tailored to meet the needs of our Community to further our Mission of helping women excel in tech careers. You may access and use the Service in accordance with these Terms. Please note that these Terms govern your use of the Service, including, but not limited to, the way we interact with members of our Community and their data.

When using the features of the Service, you are subject to any Agreements, Policies or Guidelines applicable to such features that may be posted from time to time. All such Agreements, Policies or Guidelines, including the Terms of Service and the Acceptable Use Policy, are hereby incorporated by reference into these Terms.

Whenever you interact with our Service, voluntarily fill out a form, whether you are requesting and/or giving information, you are providing us with personal data, and this is the Policy that governs how and when we can collect, use and disclose that data. This document also explains how our Service uses cookies and similar technology to gather data from visitors of our Service, and also what we are and aren't allowed to do with data we collect from anyone interacting with WWCode and communicates with us through various channels on our Service.

WWCode has also included the following information within these Terms:

While using our Service, we may ask you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information (PII) that can be used to contact or identify you. Personally identifiable information may include, but is not limited to, your email address ("Personal Information"). We collect this information for the purpose of providing the Service, identifying and communicating with you, responding to your requests/enquiries, and improving our services. Personal information is collected in order to provide you with the use of our Services and we will not sell or rent your personal information to marketers or third parties. We may on rare occasions share your Personal Information with trusted third parties who are integral to our operations e.g. host companies, in these rare cases we will make every effort to inform you.

WWCode collects information about you directly from you and automatically through your use of our Service. We may combine, analyze, delete, or track information automatically collected with other information that you have provided, including from publicly available sources, or other services such as Meetup, Eventbrite, Social Media, or others platforms.

When becoming a part of our Community or engaging with our Service you may volunteer information such as employment history, address, interests, and or billing information - depending on the nature or your request, or engagement. WWCode does not knowingly collect, maintain, or use Personal Information from children under 13 years of age. None of our Service is directed to children under the age of 13, as WWCode's target market is career aged women and we do not serve nor tailor to children in our Mission. We will take steps to delete it if we learn we have inadvertently collected any.

1.1.1 Log Data

We collect information that your browser sends whenever you visit our Service ("Log Data"). This Log Data may include information such as your computer's Internet Protocol ("IP") address, browser type, browser version, the pages of our Service that you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages and other statistics. In addition, we may use third party services such as Google Analytics that collect, monitor and analyze this type of information in order to increase our Service's functionality. These third party service providers have their own privacy policies addressing how they use such information.

1.1.2 Use of Cookies

Depending on how you're accessing our Services and subject to your opt-out preferences, we may use "cookies" (a small text file sent by your computer each time you visit our website, unique to your WWCode account or browser) or similar technologies to record log data as referenced in Section 1.1.1 above. When we use cookies, we may use "session" cookies (that last until you close your browser) or "persistent" cookies (that last until you or your browser delete them). Some of the cookies we may use are associated with your WWCode Profile or engagement in our Service (including personal information about you, such as the email address you gave us), and other cookies are not. To help us measure the engagement of all communications, some WWCode Affiliates may receive a confirmation when you open email from a third party such as MailChimp if your computer supports such capabilities.

1.1.3 Use of Google Analytics and Other Tracking

Our Service uses Google Analytics, a service which transmits website traffic data to Google to help us track engagement, traffic, errors, and webpage usage. Google Analytics does not identify individual users or associate your IP address with any other data held by Google.

We use other third-party vendors' reporting tools, such as MailChimp, Twitter, Facebook, and other Social Media Platforms to compile aggregate data regarding certain measures of WWCode's service.

1.2 Security and Protection of Information

The security of your Personal Information is important to us, and we strive to implement and maintain reasonable, commercially acceptable security procedures and practices appropriate to the nature of the information we store, in order to protect it from unauthorized access, destruction, use, modification, or disclosure. However, please be aware that no method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure and we are unable to guarantee the absolute security of the Personal Information we have collected from you.

You should take steps to protect against unauthorized access to your devices and WWCode Service information along with other account information by choosing a robust password, practicing diligent password privacy efforts, not sharing any login and password information with others, and certainly not communicating such sensitive information over the internet to untrustworthy sites. WWCode is not responsible for any lost, stolen, or compromised passwords or for any activity on or Service via unauthorized password activity.

We retain the personal data we collect for so long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes for which the data was collected, which could be held to the basic standard of document retention of seven (7) years, or in perpetuity depending on the nature of information. We collect as little data as possible to perform our daily business needs in relation to carrying out our Mission, better serving our Community, tracking activity so that we can foster a Community that carries out our Mission, apply for additional fundraising which require certain metrics to be reported, and more. We may also collect and store Personal Information for any applicable statute of limitations periods for the purposes of bringing and defending claims.

1.3 Service Providers

WWCode may transfer Personal Information to third party companies that help us provide our Services as referenced in the above sections. Transfers to these third parties are governed internally and we will not sell, rent, or otherwise disclose inappropriate Personal Information to third parties.

We may employ third party Companies and Individuals to facilitate a portion of our Service, to provide the Service on our behalf, to perform Service-related services, and/or to assist us in analyzing how our Service is used. These third parties have access to your Personal Information only to perform specific tasks on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use your information for any other purpose.

Our Service may contain links to other sites that are not operated by us. If you click on a third party link, you will be directed to that third party's site. We strongly advise you to read the Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policies of any third party web sites or services that you visit. We have no control over, and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies or practices of any third party sites or services.

2.0 Your Rights in Regards to Communications

We may use your Personal Information to contact you with newsletters, marketing or promotional materials and other information that may be of interest to you. You may opt out of receiving any, or all, of these communications from us by following the unsubscribe link here or instructions provided in any email we send.

As referenced in the TOS you can also delete any personal Profile you have established via our Service by emailing contact@womenwhocode.com. For purchases related to the Job Board please email companies@womenwhocode.com and also allow up to five (5) business days for us to process your request.

2.1 Business Transaction

If WWCode is involved in a merger, acquisition or asset sale, your Personal Information may be transferred as a business asset. In such cases, we will provide notice before your Personal Information is transferred and/or becomes subject to a different Privacy Policy.

3.0 Compliance With Laws

We will disclose your Personal Information where required to do so by law or subpoena or if we believe that such action is necessary to comply with the law and the reasonable requests of law enforcement or to protect the security or integrity of our Service.

You agree to comply with all applicable domestic and international laws, statutes, ordinances, and regulations regarding your use of our Service. WWCode reserves the right to investigate complaints or violations, reported or otherwise of our Terms. WWCode has the ability to take any action we deem both necessary and appropriate, including but not limited to canceling or suspending any Account controlled by Us, removing any posting(s) you have with Us, reporting any suspected unlawful activity to law enforcement, regulators, or other third parties, and disclosing any information necessary or appropriate to authorities. In the instance of non compliance WWCode has the ability, but also discretion, to produce information relating to your Profile(s), email addresses, posted materials, PII, and other information, as allowed within this Policy.

3.1 Domestic Laws

California Online Privacy Protection Act: CalOPPA is the first state law in the nation to require commercial websites and online services to post a privacy policy. The law's reach stretches well beyond California to require a person or company in the United States (and conceivably the world) that operates websites collecting personally identifiable information from California consumers to post a conspicuous privacy policy on its website stating exactly the information being collected and those individuals with whom it is being shared, and to comply with this policy. – See more here.

3.2 International Transfer

Your information, including Personal Information, may be transferred to — and maintained on — computers located outside of your state, province, country or other governmental jurisdiction where the data protection laws may differ than those from your jurisdiction. If you are located outside United States and choose to provide information to us, please note that we transfer the information, including Personal Information, to United States and process it there. Your consent to this Privacy Policy followed by your submission of such information represents your agreement to that transfer.

3.3 International Laws

General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Personal Data Notice:

In efforts to expand EU data subjects' control over their personal data, a landmark privacy law called General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) goes into effect on May 25, 2018 in the European Union (EU). All organizations that market, track or handle EU personal data are legally required to comply.

There are many aspects and requirements of Companies to adhere to GDPR regulations, and WWCode is dedicated to adhere to applicable GDPR regulations as well.

WWCode operates our Services from our Headquarters in San Francisco, CA and secondary location in Atlanta, GA. Complete use of our Services may not be appropriate or available for use in other locations. If you use our Services outside the US, you are responsible for following applicable local laws (e.g. reimbursements in accordance with your Country using the correct avenues).

WWCode does not knowingly transfer unsecure information outside of the US, due to our presence we have Members from the EU (European Union) and EEA (European Economic Area).
